Can Affiliate Marketing Make You Rich?

Because you’re on top of the answers, I’m not replying to you, but adding my answer here, so people that come across this question don’t stop short at your answer.

I’ve been involved in the affiliate marketing business for nearly 17 years through various companies and across very competitive verticals - Gambling, Trading, Adult.

While you have a few valid and good points in your answer, the particular question you’ve been asked to answer: “Can you really make significant money using affiliate marketing”, you are 100% wrong… And it’s ok to be wrong.

First of all, let’s define a few things so we’re all on the same page:

Significant money: Depending on where you live, significant money can be 2000$ or 20000$ (per month).

In the course of my career I founded several affiliate programs and managed thousands of affiliates. I’m not doing it anymore, and i’m not promoting a product through affiliates (although TrackingDesk has a referral program), so what I’m about to say has no impact on my current ventures or occupation.

When I left the gambling affiliate program that i was running in 2007, we were paying about $4′000′000 of affiliate commissions on a monthly basis.

Some affiliates were cashing in $1M, some others $500 and some had to wait for the next payment schedule to get over the minimum payment.

We had plenty of affiliates earning consistently between $10k and $30k were strong in ppc, seo or email marketing. Others had some shady tactics - blackhat ppc, seo etc… But overall, those figures didn’t surprise anyone.

Here is the big secret - The internet is so vast, the possibilities so unlimited, that you can make $1M in a month and nobody will even notice, and you will certainly not advertise it;)

“Making money” is driving affiliate marketing. Naturally, the first guys that made money realized that the “get rich quick” methods they were selling to mom and papa to become day traders and make millions, could simply be adapted to other market segments. So they created “make money” courses that people bought to become “solo entrepreneurs” / affiliates.

Same recipe, same method, same trigger…

Long story short: Yes, you can make money being an affiliates. But that doesn’t happen out of thin air. It requires hard work, persistence, creativity, agility and plenty of other little things that are discovered through trials and errors.

I’m now running Anytrack.io, a conversion tracking platform used by affiliate marketers to run and measure their paid and organic campaigns. We see all sorts of users and of all size. From time to time, I personally run “one on one” demos with new users and I realize that there is not one single method to make money as an affiliate. There are so many ways, so many Subtleties and tactics. Everyone tries to find its angle and edge, because it’s precisely there that the margins and scale can be found.

I checked out your site. You certainly have a very wide amount of topics in a very competitive niche. Are you doing keyword research to identity content that you can actually rank for?

I see articles covering a ton of different subjects, with some links going out to apparently other sites but not your money links (affiliate offers), which just takes people away from your site which you don’t want to do.

Are you tracking what your rankings are for given articles you create? Again- you’re focusing on a VERY competitive niche- fitness/ nutrition etc.

Is the issue that you just aren’t getting traffic? If you aren’t then you need to focus on ranking high on long-tail keywords that you have a chance to get high rankings for.

I have a feeling you aren’t ranking high for many of these content pages at all. You have to be in spots 1–5 on google to get any real traffic.

Focus on content that you CAN rank for. Long-Tail keywords that aren’t super competitive so you can rank high and get people clicking on your content.

Then you need to get that traffic to click on your affiliate links and buy something:

I had a real problem even finding out what your affiliate offers were! Some of your links I wasn’t even aware I was expected to “click to buy”- you need better Call to Action links/ buttons.

All in all, I would focus on building out content that you have a chance at ranking high for on google. Then when you do, make sure you put internal links within that content to the pages you want people to click on (either affiliate offers, product review pages, etc)

Remove all the links you have that go out from your site to other peoples sites: I kept clicking on links and ending up on some completely different site about building muscle when I was reading about nutrition. That is bad (unless you own those sites), as you’re taking someone off your own site.

Keep people on YOUR site! Use internal links to direct them to pages you want them to read, and make sure your affiliate call to action is clear.

You also should use link cloaking software such as Pretty Links to shorten the affiliate links to look like mindsyncbody com/probiotic1 or whatnot; so they don’t look like affiliate links or have some huge link.

I could go on, but really I think you need to focus on creating content that you have a chance to actually rank high on google for- anything off of page 1 is no-mans-land, really anything outside of spots 1–5 is: If you have traffic or get it after doing this, you need to focus on improving your conversion rate.

Better call to action, better reviews, etc.

I highly advise you to get The Affiliate Lab course by Matt Diggity (I believe it is The Affiliate Lab by Matt Diggity )- I’m NOT compensated as an affiliate for that at all but know Matt very well and he’s an expert on SEO and affiliate marketing and I purchased his course as well and even being an expert affiliate marketer still use it quite a bit to learn things.

Good luck and don’t give up, just work on focusing on topics not super competitive where you can rank, and then optimize your review / money pages where there is a clear call to action, clear pros/cons for the product you are recommending, and try to show you have actually used the product not just including stock photos
